Do you HAVE to wear sunscreen when using a vitamin c serum?

I'm specifically using C20 Vitamin serum. I'm kind of lazy to apply sunscreen now (I used to be pretty meticulous), and I want to tan so that's why I don't really apply sunscreen anymore. Will not wearing sunscreen increase sun damage or something?

Thanks!

Vitamin C serums are not photosensitive but if you're using it for treating PIH or dark spots, not wearing sunscreen will reduce your vit c's effectiveness. While vit c's inhibit melanin production which helps fade dark spots quicker, exposing your skin to sun without sunscreen will darken the skin anyway, rendering your vit c virtually useless.

Tan is sun damage. Look into fake tans if you want to get colour while taking care of your skin.

Vitamin C serums boost your sunscreen's protection but they don't have any on their own. Not wearing sunscreen always increases the chances of sun damage.

You should wear sunscreen period regardless of whether you use a Vitamin C serum. Sunscreen is the best thing you can do for your skin to prevent aging and sun damage. If you're too "lazy" (quoting you) to apply two products then ditch the Vitamin C not the sunscreen.

I feel like you're possibly trolling and run I'd be relieved.

It's really a personal choice for you to make for yourself. Tanning is sun damage, sun spots do show up due to tanning, and tans are still fashionable. I personally won't judge you, but I feel the general AB consensus is: don't tan ever. If you are going to lay out, I'd recommend buying yourself some Biafine in case you get too...crispy. It's what I would use in case of a sunburn. It's french pharmacy and not ab but ab doesn't offer much for sunburns since tanning is verboten.

Sunscreen doesn't stop you from tanning. I wear facial sunscreen daily and LATHER myself in it when I head to the beach including reapplication every two hours on the dot once I'm there. I still get a tan.

If you use enough broad spectrum sunblock it will stop you from tanning. I avoid tanning like the plague as it is a sign of sun damage.

I'm sorry but this is very difficult to believe. Are you using the recommended amount? Is broad spectrum? How strong is it? This sounds like just anecdotal evidence. FWIW, I tan very easily. I spent 4 days in the Caribbean with sunblock and don't have a single tan line on me (i.e. no tan at all). I laid out at the beach, swam in the pool, went on hikes, and hiked to a waterfall where I acted a fool for instagram. No tan.
